Yoga Journey

While Kenya was first introduced to yoga in college, it was yoga that found her following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2014.  She credits yoga with helping her find her way back to herself during her healing journey, and fostered in her a greater sense of connection, balance and self-awareness. The interwoven practice of body, mind, and spirit in yoga she found so healing and uplifting led her to become a yoga teacher to share the life-affirming benefits of this ancient practice for modern times, with as many beautiful souls she is honored to cross paths with.

Background & Experience

Kenya completed a nine-month Teacher Training Certification Program at Antelope Valley College in 2018, is RYT® 200 certified with Yoga Alliance, 65-hours certification in Restorative Therapeutic Yoga teacher training with Jillian Pransky, C-IAYT and 100-hours certification as facilitator of I AM Yoga NidraÔ from Amrit Yoga Institute in Salt Springs, Florida.  Yoga Nidra is a specialized guided meditation technique, often called ‘yogic sleep’, that produces deep relaxation of the body and mind. It has been shown to reduce stress, ease insomnia and decrease depression and anxiety.  She teaches Hatha Yoga, including Restorative, Gentle Vinyasa Flow, Chair Yoga and Yoga Nidra in group and private sessions.  Kenya also holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies.  She considers herself a ‘forever-student’, so finding opportunities to discover, learn and grow is a constant in her life’s journey.  Kenya is currently pursuing a M.S. degree in Yoga Therapy.

Yoga Classes with Kenya

Kenya’s teaching style is gentle and restorative.  Her classes offer a welcoming space to soften, become present and explore. She crafts asana (postures) sequences, pranayama (breathwork) and meditation that respects students’ needs. Her foremost desire is to share the practice of yoga in a way that is accessible to all: to meet people where they are, as they are.
